A new search engine for privacy and compliance officers to find out if there are peer-to-peer file sharing clients on their networks has just been launched. A user can enter a domain name and find out if there are any IP addresses within that domain with one or more p2p clients on the Gnutella p2p network.

The medical data breach dashblard has been updated with all breaches going up to the end of December 2009. This interactive tool allows users to look at trends and distributions of medical data breaches through a simple interface.

A study just published examines the leaks of PHI from peer-to-peer file sharing program users in the US and Canada, and compares that to leaks of financial information. The article also examines the ethical issues in collecting personal information from the Internet without consent, and what the considerations should be.
